As the music industry struggles to figure out how to reach the marketplace via the digital world, I've been giving some thought as to how to reach the far flung masses to create interest in my music. Second Life seems to be one of the fastest growing new mediums for music performance. Artists such as Suzanne Vega, Regina Spektor, Jay Z and Duran Duran have all performed concerts in this enviroment.

In February of 2007 I joined Second Life. My avatar is named Forsythe Whitfield after a fictional character that I've had rolling around in my head for some time. He is of course a slide guitar, ukulele playing blues guy just like myself. The only difference is he's younger and better looking. (In Second Life everyone is always 29!)

While you're surfing check out House of Flames - http://sl-houseofflames.com/.

The folks at House of Flames recently produced a broadcast of Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" concert into Second Life. They have a great venue and have featured me in their programming recently as well as Joan Armatrading and other roots/blues acts.
